An Intro to TVB's THE GEM OF LIFE 16 main characters

John Chiang as 康青揚
Age: 59

He is the husband of 白筱柔 (played by Louise Lee) and father of 康雅言、康雅瞳、and 康雅思 (Maggie Siu, Gigi Lai, and Ada Choi). He is the family man. He would rather be poor and let his three daughters marry a wealthy husband to live a lavish life. All he wants is for his daughters to live happily.

Louise Lee as 白筱柔
Age: 57

She is the wife of 康青楊 (played by John Chiang) and mother of 康雅言、康雅瞳、and 康雅思 (Maggie Siu, Gigi Lai, and Ada Choi). She came from Shanghai and has lived a wealthy life ever since. Her precious diamonds are her three daughters, which she cherishes the most. At a very young age, her daughters were all trained well as to how to live in a wealthy society. Because of her, all her daughter's first marriages were failures. She later suffered from memory loss.

Maggie Siu as Sylvia 康雅言
Age: 35

She is the eldest daughter of 康青楊 (played by John Chiang) and 康白筱柔 (played by Louise Lee). She is a manager for a number of artistes. Her first husband was 葉富添 (played by Patrick Dunn) When she was really down one night, she drank a lot and met Calvin, 高長勝 (played by Bowie Lam). She used the heel of her shoe to hit Calvin, which Calvin took revenge on her by making her lose her job. They became good friends later on. She will have love relationships with Calvin and Sunny, 游日東 (played by Kenny Wong).

Gigi Lai as Constance 康雅瞳
Age: 34

She is the second daughter of 康青楊 (played by John Chiang) and 康白筱柔 (played by Louise Lee). She eloped and married her husband 范禮奇 (played by Rocky Cheng), no matter how her entire family objected of the marriage. Three years later, their marriage ended upon her mother finding out that her husband has another affair. She obtained her GIA degree after starting a new life. Because she wanted to help her younger sister, 康雅思 (played by Ada Choi), she purposely went near a rich bachelor and playboy, Terrance, 賀哲男 (played by Moses Chan) to try to get some money. However, after they spent 7 days together, they fell for each other. They later married and separated, which she continued her dreams of designing jewelry. She is/was also the girlfriend of Derek, 陳啓發 (played by Eddie Kwan.)

Ada Choi as Jessica 康雅思
Age: 32

She is the youngest daughter of 康青楊 (played by John Chiang) and 康白筱柔 (played by Louise Lee). Of the three sisters, she is the one wanting to be the most wealthiest. Her first husband was a CEO of a company. Her good friend is 何泰禾 (played by Wong Hei, who has had a crush on her ever since they were little kids.) She later married 賀峰 (played be Elliot Yue) and helped him go against his own son Terrence, 賀哲男 (played by Moses Chan) and his daughter-in-law Constance, 康雅瞳 (played by Gigi Lai), who also happens to be Jessica's older sister.

Moses Chan as Terrance 賀哲男
Age: 34

He comes from a wealthy family and is the son of Martin, 賀峰 (played by Elliot Yue). He is a spoiled playboy. At first, Constance, 康雅瞳 (played by Gigi Lai) used him for money. But, after spending 7 days together, they developed love for each other. They married, but later on Constance leaves him, and he is left with no choice but to show Constance his abilities in the business world. They later got back together and thought of new ideas for his company.

Elliot Yue as Martin 賀峰
Age: 60

He is the father of Terrance, 賀哲男 (played by Moses Chan.) He is very good friends with Melissa, 虞葦庭 (played by Rebecca Chan.) He later marries Jessica, 康雅思 (played by Ada Choi.)

Bowie Lam as Calvin 高長勝
Age: 37

Calvin was raised by his mother in Macau. His father had died when he was very young. He is a very respectful and caring son. He became a chef in a five star restaurant in Hong Kong. He became good friends with Sunny, 游日東 (played by Kenny Wong). Calvin was sworn enemies with Sylvia, 康雅言 (played by Maggie Siu) at first, but later they went out and eventually broke up.

Rebecca Chan as Melissa 虞葦庭
Age: 49

Melissa is one of the wealthiest woman in Hong Kong. She married a wealthy businessman, but he died leaving her a huge chunk of money. She has a love/friendship with Martin, 賀峰 (played by Elliot Yue). They help each other in the public and in each other's private lives.

Eddie Kwan as Derek 陳啓發
Age: 38

He is not used to wearing suits and tuxedos, as he came from a wealthy family, but his father dissapeared when he was 10, leaving him with nothing. He and his mother moved to Macau for a living. He went back to Hong Kong after his mother passed away. He develops a really strong love for Constance, 康雅瞳 (played by Gigi Lai).

Bosco Wong as William 何泰川
Age: 25

His older brother is 何泰禾 (played by Wong Hei). They have looked after each other at a very young age. He has a love relationship with wealthy mistress Elise, 宋子凌 (played by Linda Chung).

Linda Chung as Elise 宋子凌
Age: 22

Elise is a very spoiled brat. At a very young age, whatever she wanted, she would get. She loves to play with men, but when she came upon William, 何泰川 (played by Bosco Wong), she found herself really loving him. But, it turns out that William is just playing her.

Queenie Chu as Mandy 文慧
Age: 36

She is the third wife of 宋恩傑 (played by Bruce Li Hung Kit). Together, they have a son. She is in good terms with 宋恩傑's first wife, 宋郭婉儀 (played by Helen Ma). She loves to have 'face'.

Wong Hei as 何泰禾
Age: 35

He is the older brother of William, 何泰川 (played by Bosco Wong). He paid for his tuition fees, hoping that one day his brother will succeed in life. He had secretly admired Jessica, 康雅思 (played by Ada Choi), ever since they were kids, but Jessica only sees her as a best friend.

Kenny Kwan as Sunny 游日東
Age: 37

Sunny is the good friend of Calvin, 高長勝 (played by Bowie Lam). He used to be Terrance's, 賀哲男 (played by Moses Chan) assistant. He is/was the boyfriend of Sylvia, 康雅言 (played by Maggie Siu).
